I would like to get opinions form the forum on what breed lays the largest eggs in both Brown and White.

NOTE: I am not asking about egg production but only the size of the eggs.

Any input is appreciated.... Thanks

My production bred white leghorns laid huge white eggs. Double yolkers were a pretty common thing for them. My barred rocks lay some very large brown eggs.

My Australorp, Juliet, lays eggs typically 2 1/2" long. They're about the same size as the jumbo-size at the store. Even in 100+ heat she lays about 4x a week.

I bought my baby chicks BEFORE I join BackYard sooo I never got to ask this question beforehand. I did end up buying Buff Orpingtons (and a few Black Orpingtons) but they seem to be the sweetest pullets ever... So I have no regrets. I suspect after the first year I will get some decent size eggs from the Orpingtons though. I mostly based my purchase on their body size which could peak at about 8 pounds for the hens and 10 pounds for the roos.
