Okay so I bought this hens from a facebook ad.. I am taking extreme precautions on quarantine. I know there is cuckoo maran a hybrid comet but just cant figure out the black one. Her eyes are way to amber honey color to be an austrolorp. Previous owner say they bought them at a local feedstore so I am asuming they are from hatcheries.

When I blow up the picture her legs look odd.
Not saying it is but it could be leg mites.

Easy enough to treat and even if it isn't treating it like it is won't hurt her at all.
A soaking of the legs in Epsom salt water then apply oil or vasaline. Oil every day and soak a couple times a week.

I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time.

Worth looking at her and the others closely though.

Could still be a hatchery-quality australorp--they don't always conform to breed standards. And she's pretty fluffy. How large is she? Could she be a Jersey Giant?
I did notice she is so fluffy and puffy. They told me they were about a year old. Shes not really that giant to be a jersey or austrolorp. Maybe she still needs to grow more I am feeding them purina flock raiser for the correct nutrients. I hope she will become one good warm fluffy broody hen to raise chicks.

It does look like scaly mites on the picture but she doesnt have But I will treat them anyways. Right now they are on Corid, then I will treat with fabendanzole, then dust them with sevin dust incase they have lice. After two weeks I will sacrifice a bird of my old flock by caging him with them to see if he catches a disease if not them Ill introduce to my big flock. Thanks for the advice.

Bad News!!!! The cuckoo maran hen that I got is making noise like bronchitis not coughing or sneezing and very little clear nasal discharge. She is eating and pooping just fine. What could it be?
