I bought a Buff Orphington a few months ago, but I am starting to notice some changes.

The regular Buff Orphington lays brown eggs, but mine lays white eggs. They are totally white eggs, not even a tint of brown. I have also noticed that her feathers are whitish. I am wondering if my "Buff Orphington" is really a Buff Orphington, because I know they don't lay white eggs, and their feathers are definitely not almost completely white. Does anyone know what breed she may be mixed with?

I will find a pic when I am home and have a laptop.

Thanks! I’m sure you will find out pretty quick once it’s posted. Everyone on here is speedy and knowledgeable!

I hope that the person you got her from didn’t charge you a lot! From what I have seen in the last few weeks looking at various chickens/chicks for sale, Orphingtons are a bit pricey!

Some folks will tell you a breed and they're clueless what they have; if they just run them all together, it makes it impossible to tell you what you're buying, just what the cross might be. It's really up to you to know your breeds so you don't get taken or end up with something you didn't want, unfortunately.

Orpingtons lay brown eggs, but there are varying degrees of brown. My Buffs as well as the blue, black and splash Orpingtons usually produced pinkish-brown eggs, mostly on the lighter side, but it really depends on which line of Orps they came from.

Pictures are necessary, though, for us to even hazard a guess.

(Pssst, Orpington doesn't have an "h" in it).
