I just got this turkey poult from the local feed store on Sat. It was the last one and the guy working there didn’t know what breed it was. I’ve tried looking it up but get mixed results. Any ideas what breed this little one might be? Also is it too early to tell the sex. We have chickens, ducks and geese and parrots but this is our first turkey! 🤣🥴😩 thank you!

The breed is Turkey. If bought from a feed store the variety is likely to be a Broad Breasted Bronze. Some feed stores do carry heritage turkeys but most of them carry Broad Breasted Whites and Broad Breasted Bronze.

Turkeys need a high protein turkey or game bird starter. They should not be brooded with chicks as the imprinting it causes can make them harmful to the chickens when they are adults.

Turkeys are very social birds and should be raised with other turkeys.
