I bought 5 chicks from a lady today. They are all supposed to be mottled Cochins. 4 look the same - pink/orange beak and feet, their fluff is light yellow and black in color.
The 5th one has black beak, a lot more black fluff on the body, and not much light yellow. All 5 have feathered feet. What breed is the chick with the black beak?

It could be just more coloured than the others, or it may be black.
Sometimes blacks are bred with mottleds to improve the shape or the black colour. The mottled gene it's recessive, so in the first generation the chicks will be black, by breeding back these carriers you'll get some black chicks and some mottleds (the percentages vary if you breed two carriers or a carrier with a mottled)

It’s pretty common for there to be some diversity in beak color and the amount of mottling. I’d say you have a bantam Cochin! I have had many that look like that baby, including right now :)

Thank you, so this little one might be a black cochin?

I had a black Cochin bantam that looked just like that as a chick!
