I posted this hen as a chick and it was guessed that she's a Old English. I don't think I've ever seen an Old English in this color.
What breed do you think she is? What variety? Thanks!

We got her from the feed store, she was an assorted bantam order. The other two we got look just like the breeds they're supposed to be. She's just special I guess.

its a recessive gene

if you cross a lavender coloured bird with a non lavender coloured bird you get a bird that looks like the non lavender bird (basically like the original non lav bird) but with the lavender gene inside hidden away for future use

this is referred to as split lav

then if you cross a split lav with another split lav you will get 25% Lavender, 50% Split lav, 25% original offspring like parents

so if you cross a black game with a lav bird (lets say a lavender Orpington) then you get all black bird with split lav gene

get those offspring boy and girl and mate them together and you get the above ratio

if you where to keep the shape and size birds that looked like game rather than orps then your birds will look like games with tiny indifferences as yours are

then if you get 2 lav birds and breed them then you get breeding true

which is breeding as lavs every time

your lavs is not bred true just yet as it has white leakage

its almost like a mottled colour
