I picked up this chick yesterday from our local country store. She was in the "assorted standard pullets" bin. All the chicks in there were various shades of gold. I'm assuming some were buff orpingtons or rocks. This one has lighter and darker gold stripes on it's back. The feathers coming in are also 2 shades of gold. She does not have feathers on the legs.

The left wing is not dark like this picture shows. Not sure what happened there.

The chick is fuzzy in the picture, but the markings look a lot like the white laced red cornish I've seen from Ideal Hatchery.

I was thinking it kind of looked like a white laced red Cornish too. It's got a weird comb. It's there, just doesn't have the sawtooth looking edge to it.

It looks like it has a beard and muffs???? I'm not one to normally jump right out there and say Easter Egger but there are very few clean legged large fowl that have beard and muffs. So, Easter Egger is my guess, if it has a beard and muffs.

I found out the chick is from privett hatchery. And it does have a single comb. Not sure what I was looking at last night! They have a couple of single comb buff breeds.

I hope she's not a gold sex link. But if she turns out to be a breed that I don't want my mom will add her to her flock of laying hens so she'll have a home no matter what breed she is.
