Do you have other roosters that could've had a tryst with the hen? Or could a different hen have laid an egg in the same nest? The flock’s rooster is a Rhode Island Red…..what breed of hens would you think laid the egg that this hatched into?
No other roosters with this flock and they were confined in a barn when the eggs were picked. The hens include Americaunas, Rhode Island Red, Barred Rock, Black Sex Links, and Silver Laced Wyandotte(which I’m assuming the white ones are from).Do you have other roosters that could've had a tryst with the hen? I haven't done any breeding myself, yet. But I've been told a hen can hold sperm up to six weeks after a breeding. No other roosters with this flock and they were confined in a barn when the eggs were picked. We have seen this color pattern in 3 separate incubator hatching from the same flock a few weeks apart each time.
