No they are not the same thing. A Pekin is a true bantam. We just call them Bantam Cochins here in the US.

Oh sorry, I hear many different things, when I first asked what the difference was when I started raising chickens everyone told me they where the same thing. I have heard a few times that they are not so I didn't know what to believe.
