Hi everyone, pictures are of Lexi, our youngest / newest hen who has just begun laying (Saturday, Sunday & today Tuesday). :celebrate
Wouldn't normally bother, but she was purchased as a "Needwood Blue, based on the Cream LegBar" and we were told to expect pale blue or green eggs. Now she's finally produced, she's given us small creamy coloured eggs, todays with a very very pale pink tint (can't get pictures to show this properly unfortunately).
Anyone any ideas exactly what she is please - we did find when on Google, a picture of a bird absolutely identical to Lexi and labelled as a 'Fenton' 🐔whatever they are ??
Thanks ! John.

Sounds like this bird is a Legbar strain Being developed by the place you bought her. Maybe they have done some crosses and the blue gene didn’t get passed to her. Sometimes this happens with Easter Eggers....supposed to lay blue or green shades but can get white or brown eggs instead based on the cross.

She’s a hybrid that’s supposed to lay green/blue eggs. These Cream Legbar based hybrids are England’s Easter Eggers. Pullet raisers are always tell you they’ll lay green/blue eggs, but they avoid the fact that it’s chance whether they will or not.

Hi, and thanks for the help with this.
Explains what's occurring with the eggs, but for our records, what can we call her - "Needwood Blue LegBar", "Cream LegBar cross" even ??
She's got all the other characteristics, placid, friendly, inquisitive, talkative and follows us !
And what is a 'Fenton' ??

If it matters, just call her what she wad sold to you as. Fenton seems to just be another name for green laying hybrids. Nearly all of these blue layer hybrids are the same, but pullet raisers buy them and give them names like Skyline, Columbine, *something* Blue.
