What breed ?

I got this rooster from a guy and he told me he is a Delaware Rooster. But now my wife and I are questioning whether or not he is. Any help?

He may be a hatchery Delaware, but he is supposed to have barred tail feathers and barred hackles, not solid black like a Columbian Rock. Poor quality on his coloring. Would not use him if you want to breed Delawares.

Yeah, I agree he isn't a Delaware. Possibly a Delaware cross but he won't father proper Delaware chicks.

Honestly, this is what some hatchery Delawares look like, totally wrong in coloration because in trying to bring them back from extinction, they bred in Columbian Rocks and sometimes, even Production Reds. So they ruined them, pretty much. Sad, right? So, I would never call him a Delaware. He has no barring at all that I can see in tail or hackles.
He could be a very poor quality Delaware, a Columbian Rock or just a cross of either one.

Looks like a red sexlink to me. Maybe a New Hampshire/Delaware cross for the Indian river broiler? I don't have a picture of my mature Delaware roo I got from a breeder, but he looks nothing like them. They have barring in their tails and their heads look more like the sample photo above.

I went and bought him to breed with our Delaware hen. The guy told me he was a true Delaware roo but was just muddy from alot of rain we got. But apparently he's not a Delaware so back to the drawing board I go
