Well, to answer your question...depends on alot of different things really...I could give you my opinion but I'm kinda biased on some breeds LOL...

https://www.backyardchickens.com/products/category/chicken-breeds : u can go to this page & on the left u can check off boxes of the types u want, so u'd put "all climates", Broodiness really doesn't matter unless u plan on raisin babies. I prefer larger fowl for egg production b/c they lay bigger eggs, although bantams/"bannies" as my dad calls them are smaller & cuter sometimes & seem to be more popular...The comb size shouldn't matter although smaller combs don't freeze in winter. I love my White leghorn hen she lays everyday, & if she does take a day off usualy she'll give us a double yolker sometime soon after that

I also like my Rhode Island Reds, they are a pretty all around type of chicken, lays pretty good, I think mine are getting older though so they're slowing down. I have heard that Black Australorps are really really good layers as well as White Leghorns, and all the Buff Orphingtons Plymoth Rocks I've heard are great too

Are you going to let your chickens free-range and roam around? If so I'd try to get ones that are kinda camoflauged if you live in an area where they get taken by foxes/racoons/opposums/etc.; b/c I've read into it & alot of the ppl I know have had White leghorns b/c they are such dang good everyday layers...but when they let them out of the pen to free-range they always get taken by the foxes or other predators, & I can only assume its b/c they're white!, unless u live in an area where there's always snow...then leghorns probably aren't what u want b/c in the winter they might get a tid cold, depends on how cold.

Two popular breeds from your geographical area would be Sussex and Orpington. Both good layers, dual purpose with great temperment.

I am new at this but I see a poster suggested the Orpington and I have to say that I have one and I love, love, love her! Sussex is on my wish list, so i'd say either of those are great options. Or both? I have a mixed flock. Not sure if they are good in your area but I do love my Barred Rocks and Wyandottes as well.

Yea i love my lil wynadottes too I think they're from Ireland, I didn't notice until earlier but not sure what teh weather is there, its a little on the cooler side I think, so yea, B.O.'s would be good too, course they're always good, I want some!!! & Australorps, needa get ridda my RIR's that aren't laying lol
