What breeds did I buy??

Just bought four young hens (hopefully!) Please help to identify the following (they may be a mix). What you are looking at are two black/brown mix, one black with black legs and a little tiny bit of white feather in her wings hidden underneath, and a buff. Thanks for any suggestions. First time posting. -J.

Mixed breeds, without a doubt. I'm probably wrong, but I've seen some Buff Orp crosses that remind me of yours.

Where did you get them?

This was a private sale by a young man who had a variety of nice looking birds: "Easter eggers", barred rock, wyandotte (the black and white kind), and others. I'm just used to basic red laying hens like isa brown or rhode islands.

The buff is probably an Easter egger/red sex link cross.
The black looks like a Wyandotte cross (it appears she has a rose comb).
The other two are difficult to tell at this point. Maybe buff Orpington or Easter egger crosses, but can't say for sure.

The large bird in the last picture is almost certainly a cockerel. The buff and the other mixed color bird are both questionable as to sex.

Oh crud. I did NOT want a rooster this time. Been there, done that. (Once bought four little buff brahma banties and ended up with three roosters and one hen!) You'd think I'd learn.

Thought I would write an update. The buff bird is now crowing, but honestly doesn't look like a rooster to me! The little black one died. The other two are also roosters, I believe. Will have to get rid of some. Can't have that many roosters. Still don't know what breed they are. Chime in if you know!

Those are all mixed breed cockerels. Agree with @JedJackson that probably orpington mixes

I will wait to see which one is the "nicest" rooster to decide who to keep. Won't be eating the losers, though. Just can't eat something I've named (Buffy, Bruce, Nugget). They will be given away to someone who would like them.
