Chick number two is a red sex link, hatcheries have different names for them like golden buff, golden comet, cinnamon queen, ISA brown.... the list goes on and on. She is also your Meyer Meal Maker because they are very common and great egg layers. You are correct about chick number four being a Gold-Laced Wyandotte. I will research to figure out the two rare breeds.

Okay, chick number one looks like an Egyptian Fayoumi and chick number three looks like a Dark Cornish or a Barnevelder. The Cornish have pea combs while the Barnevelders have single combs.

Wow, you are so right about the Egyptian Fayoumi! That is the one breed I was hoping not to get, lol! But my little Buff Laced Polish did great through the past 2 Connecticut winters, so I'm sure this one will be fine.

Is there a way to check the combs when they're this young?

Thanks for your help!!!

They are kind of young to tell but if you post a clear picture of it's head I should be able to tell. I hope the Egyptian Fayoumi does well in Connecticut, I have heard they aren't the hardiest. In the winter you can put them her in the garage at night, if it is warmer than your coop. I sometimes do that with my smaller hens and roosters with large combs when it's below freezing. Also a plus about Fayoumis is that they are extremely resistance to diseases.
