I'm assuming the developing world uses whatever's slow enough to be caught, but what about Europe and south/central America? Asia? Do they eat Cornish crosses, or another bird primarily?

From what I have seen in the Pacific Islands and Asia the chickens are mostly game type birds (since cock fighting is popular), black chicken (Silkie) is very prized in Hong Kong.

Ducks are also very popular in Asia as well.

Never saw a turkey in my travels

A co-worker of mine grew up on a ranch in Zacatecas Mexico. Though he has decent knowledge of pigs, cattle and horses, he knows almost nothing about chickens. He said mama, abuela y las tias always dealt with them. That was women's work.
