What breeds should I chose?

So we are thinking about buying a holiday house (not too far away from where I live) and my parents said that if we buy it we can have chickens there. There will be a cleaner and other people that can maintain their needs. I have 10 chickens at my normal house. I already have a silkie roo that will live there but I know that I can't just have that one chicken there, so what other breeds do you guys reckon I should get? I think probably a max of 4 or 5 girls.

Here are some of the breeds I am considering:
- Silver laced wyandotte
- Golden laced wyandotte
- Polish
- Speckled Sussex
- Lavender Orpington
- Cochin
- Sebright

I want hardy breeds that are not prone to disease if possible!

What are your goals, eggs or lawn ornaments? If you are going for pretty, I'd pick Polish, bantam Cochins, and Sebrights. If your goal is eggs - Wyandottes, Sussex, and Orpingtons.

I am mainly going for pretty but I also think the Wyandottes and Sussex and Orpingtons are pretty it is so hard!

Also have I missed any breeds that anyone else loves?

I would go for Lav Orps, Polish, Cochins, and Sebrights.

I love Dominiques! Good layers, and quite pretty in my opinion. They are a satisfyingly heavy breed, and have nice rose combs. All the choices you listed are great, though. I am biased because I have a Dominique. I also have a Speckled Sussex, and she is beautiful as well.

I think the sebright and laced are prettier, but the SS has been good here. A little skittish though.

Ooh I didn’t think about Dominiques I’ll add that to the list.

I think I am just going to have to get 1 of each! But I still have to narrow it down to 4 !
