What can I do about this comb?

Peeper has always had an extremely large comb that flops over and obscures his vision in one eye. The tips end up purple, I think because the circulation is cut off. If I massage the comb the tips get red again.

Other than removing the comb (which I won't do), is there anything that can help it? A splint? He lives indoors so freezing weather is not an issue.

He's one of two indoor pet chickens. He's a strange size, too small for a standard, a little too big for a bantam. He and his brother are mixed longtails, and are a year and a half old. I don't think the comb could possibly get any bigger!

Peeper is impressive! He's like a comb with a little rooster attached. The purple tips aren't a circulation problem firstly even lesser endowed boys get purple tips but he probably enjoys the massage.
He's indoors so I wouldn't fret too much about his vision, it won't scratch his eye or anything and he probably thinks it makes him look cool.
You do need to keep an eye on his mobility and breathing, if it gets much bigger he may have problems straightning his neck and getting proper oxygen due to that.
In that case dubbing would be the answer.:)
Also agree with @oldhenlikesdogs he's probably poking himself in the butt. :lau

Oh goodnes no, go slow and only take a quarter to a half inch at a time. I can't tell you how much to remove because I don't know how long the quick inside is on him. On my boy if I see any blood i'm done, the safe zone for him is 1/3 of the spur. You'll have to figure out the zone on your guy, that is why I suggest small clips.:)
Thanks! I've been afraid to cut into the spurs because I don't know how far the quick goes. How much should I cut off? Half?
