What can I feed them?

I started using this when I ended up with a cross beak bird. Poor thing didn't start crossing until she was 6 weeks old. She is 4 now and doing well ..... As long as I give wet mash she gets plenty food in.

OH my! I didn't realize that crossing could happen that late. I don't have experience with cross beak, but I thought this happened at hatch or after a beak injury. Thank you for posting that as I am always up for learning, and my favorite subject just happens to be chickens. You've got a lucky chicken as many would cull, which I don't judge because everyone does what they feel is best. I'm so happy your bird is thriving. That's always wonderful to read about :highfive:

I am sure it was there but was so slight it didn't really show until she grew. It still is not a horrible cross like many I have seen posted.
Last year when she molted she went naked and it became clear her whole body is malformed.

The mash was a hit! Thank you!
I'll just give them this from now on until we get the crumbles again.

That's wonderful news and good to know. But you may be able to convert them to the pellets by the time you get through the bag. Continue to give them the wet feed but after a few days, throw in a few of the dry pellets just before you serve it. Every day give them more of the dry until they are getting a little bit of mash in their dry pellets, then eliminate the mash entirely.

The advantage of this is, for the rest of their lives they will be familiar with both the crumble and pellet form and will eat both. No more worries.

Also, try not to run out of food. Always have a new bag ready if you can. Then if you have to switch, just mix the new in with the old for a few days. They should accept it with no problems.

Good luck!
