What can I plant right now in North texas?

So yes I should have been doing this earlier but I had a newborn. Now she's 6 months old and I'm thinking about gardening again. Is there anything I can plan right now in north Texas and late october, or is it too late?

Last year we only had a few hard frosts (28 F), one at the end of October. Then it didn't get that cold again for another 6 weeks at least. I was sad because it killed my Korean melon plant that was about to give me a ton melons.

You are welcome and don't forget to get a roll or two of the frost king 6 mil plastic. So you can cover your plants on those cold nights
