hey, what can i use as bedding for my few hour old chicks & ducklings ?

im useing kitching roll but i justt seen that my ducklings cant stand up stright there legs keep sliping so could i use shavings ??

i only have wood shavings will thay be ok ????

You'd be better off with just white paper towels. Wood shavings from treated wood have poison in them. Just use paper towels to be sure...

I use shavings with newspaper underneath (so easy to clean up). A lot of people use paper towels over the top for a few days, but I have never had any problem with just shavings. I have an abundance of shavings because I live in the northwoods of Wisconsin and all the loggers take their shavings from their processors to this place and throw them in semi's. It's free and they aren't allowed to cut cedar so that is no worry.
