what makes a chicken get that white goop on their butts. it's really gross
It started out with one hen. then another, even my rooster had it towards the end of the season. now it doesn't seem so bad anymore
what happened? did it get through their system or something, or is it a parasite?

I have the same thing going on with one of my hens, i cant figure it out. I even brought mine to the vets..no help, or at least they thought they helped but they didnt. I did hear there is some kind of medicine that can be bought at tractor supply for parrasites for poultry and Im thinking about trying it, I figure it cant hurt at this point...

lice................... get sevin dust & do them , then again in a week. also dust coop after cleaning it out!

Watching this thread, I have an Australorp that I noticed this on today... Have never seen it before this week...

Lice...really?? I have never had this problem before now. And its only happening to one hen, wouldnt lice effect all of them??

I have a RIR that has a poopy butt ALL the time. It never goes away except when she molts, then before you know it she's all nasty looking again. She is the only one with this problem in flock of 18 birds.

Do you know how this would affect their insides. Iv'e dusted with sevin, but haven't been persistent in replying. I got rid of all of the hay and finaly converted to woodchips.

WOW! ok I don't understand why but you are right. I locked them up tonight and took glance at everyone's but and they are all nice and fuzzy again. I'm gonna make sure I reapply. It's been more than 10 days though....will it still work or will I have to apply a 3rd time now
thank you so much for your help.
