I have a variety of chicken breeds and I am wondering which one are the best egg layers. One of my favorite chickens is my red sex link pullet that doesn't lay yet.
Red sex links are good layers, they don't really lay for long though, my RSL is going to be 2 this year, and she's already started to lay larger odd eggs
I am surprised that my Speckled Sussex has turned out to be my best layer. In the past 8 days she has laid 7 eggs, and this is typical for her. Not quite one year old. The others, a barred rock and a bl australorp, each laid 5 in that period, but their eggs are larger.
Well, they aren't known for it....I would think some of the best would be the sex links and leghorns....I just got some brown leghorn chicks and have great hopes for them.
My sex link laid regularly for about a year and a half, and now she's laying thin shelled (they have access to oyster shell) just kind of odd looking eggs
