What color egg is best for selling?

I've heard that certain color eggs are better for selling than other colors. Are darker or lighter eggs better? What kind of feed should they get to make that color? Just curious... I thank everyone for their answers! They are free-ranging chickens if that makes a difference.

The colors are determined by the breed, not what you feed the hens. Colored eggs are pretty popular around here, seems like darker is better. I have a friend who sells free range 'chocolate eggs' (very dark brown shells, from Copper Marans) for $8/dozen, and can't keep them in stock.

! ihearnh gave you some great advice. The first 3 breeds you listed will give you brown eggs - various shades. The last may give you greenish, or tan, or bluish. Good luck to you!
