What Color is This Roo?

I don't know about mottling. Some dark Brahma males have this. Could it be a lack of a melaniser or just what happens when you have those color varieties? I don't know.

I don't have pictures, but the cockerels I had had that messy black/white
chest feathering. Their father is the boy in my profile, the hen is this girl:

And she's pretty obviously got no mottling in her. But all four of the cockerels from the pairing had messy black/white chest feathering, and I believe that they had solid tails, just as the rooster above does. (I would buy that each parent is heterogeneous mottled, if only one or two of the cockerels showed it, but all of them do.) I was wondering if it was somehow from the duckwing + dark brown, or something.
