I’m confused by the color of this new hatch. New Silkie mom here. I came home from a couple days away and found a hen sitting on 4 eggs, so I let her sit instead of trying to break her. This one just hatched. I have just one White Silkie Rooster. I have 6 hens, I’m not sure who the hatching egg belonged to. I have 1 white and 5 blue silkie hens. 2 of the blues look gray, and the other 3 blues look black. This chick is brown. Any idea of what color category this chick falls into? TIA!

That is going to be a partridge. What an adorable little chick that is!

Partridges are able to be created because of your white rooster.

You won't know what color of partridge it'll be for a few weeks though or even a month or two though.
