What color / sex / age is this peafowl?

I keep chickens, and a surprise visitor showed up. I'm hunting for the owner right now, but in the meantime I'm trying to learn more in case I'm mistaken about the sex or anything else... (it IS a peahen, right?! Haha) Is there even a way to tell its age??

Please excuse the tiny cage; there's no plans for this to be a long term arrangement and if I can't figure out where this bird belongs I can figure something else out, even if it goes to a rescue.

It is a Black Shoulder (pattern) hen. She is at least a year or older. Why did you capture her instead of letting her return home?

Last bird wandering my property that I couldn't catch ended up as just feathers. We have some nasty predators around and I didn't want someone's really expensive bird ending up dinner.

Rest assured I'm posting around and asking the neighbors! >< I certainly do not need an exotic bird myself...
