What could have happened?

Hi everyone, I was hoping y'all could help me with a question of mine. I had a 1 1/2 month old pullet. She was an Easter Egger/ Rhode Island Red cross I hatched myself. Yesterday my brother told me something was wrong and that she was gasping and struggling to breathe. When I got there she had shallow breathing and soon after she took her last breath and passed away in my arms. Her neck was limp but other than that there was nothing obviously wrong. She was in a pen with 2 other pullets and my baby roo. He is 2 months old and the pullets hatched on the same day as the Easter Egger baby. What could have gone wrong? Was it something I did? If you need more details on anything please ask.

Any possibility that she may have choked on something ?

The only thing she could have gotten into was her feed. It's pellets but they have been on pellets for weeks, could she have just choked on that suddenly?

Not likely unless she ran out of feed and gorged herself upon feeding.

Could it have been something genetic? The mama had a sister who died unexpectedly with similar symptoms, panting and being off balance.
