What day to start counting from....

Does the first day you put the eggs in the bator count as day one or do you wait till the next day?

24 hours after you put them in.... or from the time the INTERNAL temperature of the egg reaches 99.5

im completely confused! so on the day you put them in count as day 1 or till the next day when 24 hrs had passed or does that ends day one?
