After a day of free ranging, my chickens will go
Back into their run, eat a little then settle in on their perch for the evening, just staring into the evening.

I have a tarp for shade that covers their view in the hot days, But i raise it up for them every evening. They like the view and won’t get on their perch in the evenings if it isn’t raised so they can have their evening perch sitting. Then when they’re done with that they head inside a barrel in their run to cuddle up and sleep together. They will not sleep on their perch despite my attempts.. they love to snuggle up to each other.

they remind me of little old men sitting around on a porch relaxing lol

anyway sometimes I’ll just sit outside their run and watch them. It’s really peaceful. They will just look out into the yard and stare.

I often wonder what they think about while their perch sitting?

do you think birds think or daydream like we do? Or do they just sit there like lumps of nothingness? Lol

I’ve wondered about that too.
