What do I do now, and how do I know about my eggs

I have 8 ee that are 19 weeks old, 3 bantams that are 19 weeks old, and then some older ones like Sussex's, polish buffs, silkies, frizzles, and 7 black/white crested ones who all range from 20 weeks to 10 months. We have been getting eggs, which we assume from the older ones, but not on a regular basis. Some days we will get 1 eggs, then others 4 eggs. These eggs range from tan to cream white. some are larger than the others. Today we got this one, and a friend of mine said that it is a new egg from a new chicken, and they are smaller. If I crack it open, she said there will be no yellow, so when I cracked it open (which broke my heart) I got yellow...so is this probably one of my older chickens laying for the first time??

this is the little egg

I doubt it would be one of the bantams laying, though I guess there is that possibility.

We have gotten yolkless and little eggs from our standard size chickens even after they have laid for a while, so it could be that. You never know what a chicken decides to do.

However, it could also be a chicken just starting to lay as well. This one is probably the most likely.

(This is a little egg next to a normal one. And my dog Cinnamon, hoping he gets to eat it.

Best of luck!

Most of my eggs are just slightly smaller than grocery store eggs, but really they vary greatly. Sometimes a chicken will lay a smaller egg, sometimes they lay a long skinny egg, and sometimes they lay one with two yolks!

As for the little egg, it looks like its yolk is an odd shape, so it could just be a one-time deformity.
