Went do TSC a couple of weeks ago and bought all the leftover chicks they had, 9 to be exact for a whopping $2.50. 1 EE, 1 california white, and the rest we don't know. It looks like I got about 5-6 pullets out of the bunch. I bought these to put in with the rest of the chicks we are planning to take to the swap on Saturday. But now I have noticed that a particular trio are different from all the rest. 1 roo and 2 pullets all look to be the same breed. Completely white, and larger than the rest and unbelievable docile. One of the pullets wants to be picked up and petted everytime we go out there. Any ideas as to what breeds these may be, we are starting to lean in the direction of keeping them to see what they turn out to be. Don't really need them, but a chicken with such a gentle nature is a pleasure to have. Any suggestion as to what these may be. Don't have pics. Solid white, single comb, yellow legs and large, gentle chicks. I am sure these are not broilers, or meat birds because their legs are not heavy set.

Meaties most likely ..... they can be very sweet... but if you read up on them, you'll find that there are reasons why they are destined to be eaten

REread your post..... but I'm still guessing meaties...... until they really start to grow, they can look very much the same. But hopefully I am wrong.

All white, my other guess would be Leghorns

I hope not meaties, I know there are seveal breeds of white chickens, and I didn't think TSC would put meaties in their bins since most people would want layers. I guess I was hoping something like white rocks, white giants or something like that.

You could always find out what breeds they carry or where they are getting their chicks from and figure out which they might be. But obviously you'll know very soon if they are meaties or something else

I called TSC and they said they get their chicks from Privett, so I called Privett and they said these chicks should be either white rocks, white leghorns, or rhode island whites. That those were the 3 breeds that matched my descrition. So, maybe I need to keep them a little longer.

I'm glad they had many large white breeds

Our feed stores usually only carry 1 at most besides the Meaties.

Check out Feathersite to see if you can find any clues to their heritage

Good luck with them
