I have a bantam Cochin/EE egg cross hatching right now what do I do? The egg is hatching in the middle is that a problem? He/she is very loud and boisterous she knows my voice she gets louder when I'm closer. What about ventilating the incubator? I couldn't find a humidity meter anywhere so I put two small containers of water in the incubator. Any help I would be grateful I thought the bantam eggs had died I was just waiting to be sure.

If you don't have a proper hygrometer , your goal is to have the viewing windows foggy. That's when you know your humidity is high enough. As for your other question, it is perfectly normal for them to hatch from the side. Good luck and I hope it goes well. Can you post a picture of it's progress?

Also, had the egg externally pipped yet?I'm sure it probably has since you said it's hatching from the side, but just making sure.

Yes. We can hear her off and on. How long should this take?
As @Lacrystol says, you're on his time now, how long has it been since the internal peep. Also when did the chick fist externally peep. And lastly how much of the shell has been chipped away?

Unfortunately I dont know I had thought my bantam eggs had died because they were dark and showed no movement. But couldn't bring myself to throw them away so I left them in the incubator. Apparently I was wrong about at least one. The hole looks like a little crack with a tent of shell to make like a blow hole.

400

Its the little sliver crack mark X under the darker pencil mark X.
