what do the symbols mean?

Hi, can someone please tell me what the symbols mean to the left of some of the subject topics on the page? Like chicks or locks or just a dot? Dumb question, sorry.

chicks=new posts
locks=no more posting allowed (thread is locked)
dot=you posted in that thread

Now I'll wait to see how many I got right! :lol
