what do you call this?

The last egg of this batch hatched at 23 days....but the chick flips around, mostly on its back with feet in the air and the neck bent back constantly chirping? any ideas?

First check it for foot or spraddle leg issues. Try banding its legs as you would for spraddle leg. If it still flips, it is likely a neurological issue. Use pediatric vitamins with no iron, or chick vitamins, which will help with some nutritionally based issues.

It is in distress. From experience, the chicks that hatch that late are not normal. It's not good, and a very sad situation to have to kill any little chick. Don't want to be discouraging, but it's reality. If you have to kill it use a very sharp knife, or hatchet and do it quickly. If you find a solution or splint, let us know. Let us know either way.
