Hello all I am wondering if you can get sexlink chicks from crossing a buff orpington rooster with a blue ameraucana hen or how about a silver ameraucana hen with a buff orpington rooster or silver laced wyandotte rooster.

Welcome!

Sorry, genetics is not my forte but the folks on the Forum redsoxs gave you a link to should be able to help.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

You probably can get your answers at "what breed or gender is this." Some of the folks are very knowledgeable about color genetics etc. and very free with their advice.

Hi and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us. Between the two forums given, you should get some help.

Best wishes

If you are going for sex-link the buff Orpington x silver Ameraucana is your best bet. If the hen is sex linked silver the roos should be white and the pullets buff. The problem with this is that many chicks with only one silver gene will be yellowish at hatch and many buffs can be very light yellow at hatch making it difficult to tell the difference.
