What do you know about fence energizers?

I'm converting my Patriot fence energizer from a plugged-in indoors energizer into portable battery-powered. I ordered the leads and battery and all, and now I need to know if I need to charge it before hooking everything up. It's a Rhino 12V 7Ah battery. Sorry to be so clueless... I've never done this before! Thank you!!

Oh, never mind. That was remarkably easy to set up--and it's clear that the battery is charged. Thanks & sorry for the hopeless post.
