So this is Princess. She was a single chick hatched by an enthusiastic black Jersey Giant hen. She will be one year old in June.
As you can see, she is blue with some golden feathering on her neck. If you look (very) closely at her feathers, there is slight golden lacing on them. Her legs look black to me, they're very dark. She has a slight, athletic build and large eye. Single comb. She's a very active, inquisitive forager.
Now, biologically I'm thinking her real mom is my blue splash Orp hen Midgie. Because splash blue will always have blue kids right?
Dad however? I'm thinking EE. An orange and blue EE named Singular Joter. Old too; he just celebrated his 10th birthday!
The only other rooster with the hens is my Jubilee Orp, Kingsley. I don't think that Kingsley is her dad as he and Midgie already have some children and they are fluffy and big. But, I've been wrong before!
<--Princess
Anyway, it doesn't matter a lick what her DNA is, I'm just curious what others see. Is it possible that she could have another mom? (I have two blue Orp hens and 2 Lavender Orp hens)
<--Singular Joter @1yr old. He got more blue feathers every year after molt.
So what do you think, EE dad or Orpington dad?
