WHat do yall think is the most popular breed of duck on here??? And are there breeds of ducks that BYC memebrs dont own? I know that there are like 20 - 25 breeds of duck but I wonderif the BYC family owns them all?

I have :

Muscovies
Magpie
Cayuga
Buff x Mallard
Cayuga x Mallard
Magpie x Mallard
Magpie x Runner
and a Swede mix drake.

I was going to say Muscovies, Calls, or RUnners were the most popular , lol. Ive never even heard negative feedback about runners and calls - except runners can be skittish.

I agree with greencastle, I would love to have calls but I've heard they're the perfect size for raptors and we have a lot of them. I love my runners, buff orpingtons and muscovy even though I thought I would be turned off by the red face. She was given to us and is the sweetest duck ever. I think they seem cuter because they don't make any noise. I like my pekin drake and my rouen drake because they liven things up - they're a bit scrappy, I should probably get them some girls. Gosh I guess I can't help with the favorite thing, just can't pick.

I think you're right. A lot people here seem to have Swedish as well and quite a few have Welsh Harlequins and Campbells. There doesn't seem to be very many people with the bantam breeds, like the Mini Appleyards or Aussie Spots. I also don't think anyone hardly ever posts about Saxonies, Silver Appleyards, Dutch Hookbills, or Aylesburies.

I would have to say Runners are the most common duck I have seen mentioned on here, closely followed by Muscovies.
It would be interseting to do a survey every few years to see if the popularity shifts at all over a number of years.
It may also have a lot to do with availibility. The rarer breeds are never going to get a lot of attention while it is so hard to find breeders willing to sell them.
