Last year I rescued a Pekin duck, and she's been my sweet girl since. She seems to only tolerate my chickens, so I decided to get her some companducks this year. 3weeks ago, I went to my feed store and got 3 ducklings. I have no idea what these 3 are. I thought they were 2 Pekins and a mystery baby with a cute dark bill. Now, one of the 2 has a puff on its head. Can someone please help me ID them? The feed store said they get the assortment from Ideal Poultry.

Also, how old should the ducklings be before I introduce them to my duck? She doesn't even acknowledge them currently unless I hold them in front of her face, and the chickens give them the stare down like they're a zoo exhibit.

It looks like a Welsh Harlequin and a Pekin and a Crested duck.

Hmmm, it actually looks a bit small to be a Welsh Harlequin now that I think about it.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. The Crested is the one with the puff and the maybe Welsh Harlequin is the mystery duck

Intros have to be done slowly over several days to weeks depending on temperment of adult duck. start by placing ducklings inside some kind of contained area on nice warm days,[dog crate or temp fencing works good. Let you adult have access only at those times so they can all get use to each other, adults can hurt young ducklings and they need to get to know them over time.

Thank you for your replies!

The mystery duckling, I call her (him?) Speedy because s/he's super fast, is much smaller than the other 2. Also, as a tiny duckling she seemed to have relatively huge feet.

Is Crested the name of the breed? Just Crested and not Crested ---?

They are adorable!

Crested can be a variety of breeds. I have a White Crested, which I guess is a Pekin Crested, I'm not sure.

Be sure to handle the crested duckling carefully and make sure he/she does not get picked on. The crested ducks have a genetic abnormality, their skull does not close all of the way so they can get brain injures.

What are you feeding them?

Many breeds can have crested in them of the Mallard derived species, never seen a crested Muscovy. so if your duckling is a Pekin it would be a crested Pekin.

I think so. I'm not sure though.
I was looking at Ideal Poultry and I think your mystery duck is the one that they call a "Snowy Mallard." I've never heard of that before. I've heard of Snowy Call ducks and White Mallards, but not Snowy Mallards. I guess I learn something new every day!
