I follow Goldshaw Farm on YouTube, I really enjoy Morgan and his farm i occasionally check his website, and today I noticed the black egg in his hands. Primarily I believe he has Khaki Campbell’s though it looks like maybe a silver appleyard? In that screenshot. I see a pekin or 2 in his videos as well.

The only ducks I was aware that laid black eggs were the Cayuga, Black East Indie (BEI), and the Black Runner. In this video, he states the black egg was from his Caygua.
I really hadnt noticed him with cayuga, he says they are wintering there, so perhaps they weren't there long term.

I believe it's very much like Marans, where their first eggs are the darkest and lighten up during the lay cycle. They will be darker again at the beginning of the second lay cycle, but not quite as dark as the first. :)
It is. They start black and get lighter gray every time till they are almost white.
