What feed for non-laying ducks?

My understanding is the best feed I can supply my ducks before they start laying (after they're off starter feed) is 14% protien, however the lowest amount I can find seems to be 16% (chicken layer feed). Is this too mich protein? Isn't that what they should be at when they're laying? I want my ducks to have optimal nutrition so any recommendations are appreciated!

a starter feed is fine till their old enough to eat layer feed and is not to much protein...mine get a 18% starter till laying or starter then 18% all flock pellets once their 6-8 weeks old and they do great

Kathy--I was going with Storey's guide but since the ducks are coming from metzer, I'll trust those numbers thanks!
