What genders are my silkie chicks

I just hatched 6 silkie chicks and I was wondering when I will be able to tell their genders and how.


This is my first time having chicken and I am really enjoying it. I got 6 chicks shipped in the mail 2 where weak and didn’t make it and one had wry neck, so now I have 3 that where shipped and do well and they are about 2 weeks and all female and are already named: Peekaboo, Pocket, and Lemon. The others I don’t want to name because I don’t want to get attached to them and then they turn out to be roos.

Silkies can be more difficult to sex then other breeds. Often times you won't know genders until they are 10+weeks old. Bigger combs and wattles are often signs of a cock. Crowing is also a key indicator.

What's already been said is correct silkies are the most hardest to sex until at least 10 weeks in most cases they are slow developers if comb starts go look big and red/purple colour or they crow its a cockerel I'd wait til around at least 8 weeks then post again sorry couldn't be much help xx
