Hey all,

Trying to decided what boys and girls I have here. I know what I’ve been thinking but I want some “expert” opinions please 🙃

The first clear signs of boys/girls are voices. Girls voices change first and have a higher quack sound. Boys usually are later to stop peeping. When their voice matures it will be more raspy.
Later drakes will get a curl in their tail and in some breeds males get darker/or green heads

2 boys, 1 girl. Mostly going based off the bill coloration. Tail coloration seems to fit, too.

You should be able to tell by voice, too. A girl will be making peep-honk sounds and the occasional loud quack. A boy will still have his baby peep.

That’s what I have thought also. But I’m still relatively new to ducks so I was like maybe I’m wrong. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Only one is quacking and the other two are definitely still doing a peep but it’s a little more grown of a peep if that makes sense but hasn’t gone raspy yet 🫠
Thank you all so much for your input!

What do you mean by tail coloration? I was going off their voice and bill color too, but haven’t heard anything about the tail differences. I did notice my girl is lighter and smaller.

It’s talked about more with Khaki Campbell ducks - males have darker, more solid-colored tails, and females have lighter, two-toned tails. But I’ve noticed it seems to be true with Rouen ducks, too.

I shared this in another post recently, but bill color is the giveaway for yours! Looks to me like you've got 2 drakes and 1 hen!

Peachy = female
Olive-y = male

Exactly what I was thinking too. Thank you for sharing your picture! It’s definitely helpful to have other input on here. Super thankful for this page and the chicken page. You can only get so far with google search lol
