What got into these goose eggs?

Hi, we live in North Carolina and two geese come every year to lay eggs. We did some work on our pond so the island is a little bit different this year and they seemed hesitant to lay out there but did it anyway as there's less coverage. We noticed Mama came off the nest and walked out and found the eggs like this. Do you think this was some sort of predatory bird, a snake, a muskrat?

I was thinking crows since an island in a pond was mentioned.
