Found this in the coop last night. Kind of looks insude out? Soft shell too. Is it something that I should be concerned with?

History :
Received 7 hens from neighbor who tired of them. Have had them for one week now. They are approximately 8 months old.

At 8 months they are still sorting out thier systems sometimes. Was the shell crack, and was there also more egg inside the shell ?

Hey there your chicken has a calcium deficiency you can get calcium at your feed store or feed it your egg shells
YES EGG SHELL that will make your shell harder, the stuff is a glitch in the egg system caused from lack of calcium
Just do that and it should never happen agen but is my take a week to ten days to start to work

I will be adding calcium to their diest for sure! I learned that the neighbors were feeding basic chicken food, not laying chicken feed. Also, only white bread for treats. After 2 weeks now, egg production is up, and only one looks to be calcium deficient, she is the one that eats last and less! Probably her egg in photo above!! To answer above questions, the egg was entirely intact, no holes. The indent is from when i touched it, it was very soft and empty feeling.

Ok that's Farley comen hope it works for you there is no reason it should not but if it happens agen let us know
Ok

It's been a few days since the last one, but this morning i found the remnants of another egg in similar condition, but it was laid on top of where they roost (lid to their nesting boxes). I am not certain which one is doing this. I am getting 5 to 7 eggs a day from the flock in total. I'm thinking i will have to watch all the girls to see which ones are laying and which aren't! I have added egg shells to the feed for the past week or so.

It is possible that you have a 'defective' hen. I have a Welsummer that will expel a parchment thin shell with accompanying albumin etc. at night. She will occasionally put out a real egg, but her shelling mechanism is definitely not working properly. Only time will tell with your bird.
