What happened??

I found this egg today?? Why is it so little and should I be worried?? It is a lot darker than any of my eggs so far?? What happened??

It's probably what's called a fairy egg. Generally they only contain a small bit of yolk tissue which the body processes as a full size yolk. The egg is dark because the same amount of pigment is applied as would be applied to a regular sized egg.
