Hello! I absolutely love chickens I have yet to actually own a flock but I have recently aquired a coop from my friend who recently moved and his new house has a chicken coop he is giving away a chicken coop he found. I wanted to know what hatchery is best for a small order of 12to15 chicks

Welcome to BYC! So glad you could join us!

Chickens are awesome. I found that McMurray is an amazing hatchery, and during the summer and autumn you can get 15.

Feel free to ask any other questions.

Best of luck!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I've ordered chickens from four hatcheries on multiple occasions over the years (Murray McMurray, Ideal Poultry, Cackle Hatchery, and Dunlap Hatchery), and have been happy with the birds and service of all four of them. I've always ordered 25 chicks at a time, so I'm not certain if all four of them will ship only 15 (I know some of them will), but if you order pullets, you can always sell off any extra you don't need since you will have the order form showing that is was a pullet order. I've never had any problem recouping my money by doing that. Also, since most hatcheries only guarantee 90% accuracy on pullet orders, you will likely get a cockerel or two in the pullet order anyway. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your chicks.

Welcome to BYC!

Good luck finding the chickens you want. Nice to already have a coop for them!

Thanks for joining us
