If you don't mind a little extra work and you want a good value for your money, I say go for an LG or a Hovabator. The Brinsea's are gorgeous incubators and everyone loves them, but they are small incubators for big money. LG & Hovabator make a decent quality, inexpensive incubator that holds a lot of eggs and works just fine.
I love the auto turner, but if you're around to turn the eggs several times a day, you can skip that. Likewise the fan--it's a nice thing to have, but not strictly necessary.
An LG runs about $45 new without the bells and whistles, and it's usually readily available in feed stores. I keep a folded towel over one window and this has eliminated the temperature fluctuations it used to experience from being in a room that varies in temp. It does a really nice job for not very much money, and it holds up to 42 eggs in a turner.
I do like my Hovabator better than the LG--it doesn't need extra insulation and it's very reliable. I've hatched out lots and lots of eggs with excellent success in it. It runs a bit more--about $60 without bells and whistles, plus you'll have to pay shipping if you buy it new.
As for buying used--you'll just have to see what's locally available. They don't go on the market much around here, and almost never for bargain prices. But maybe you'll luck out.
