To me when I see the word 'broiler' I think 'chicken to eat'

I googled it but came up with a pic..but i'm not sure what it is...or how to use it or if its something we could use?

When I think of broiler and chicken, I imagine some delicious smells. I'm not really sure what they mean, though. Maybe it is a gas-powered brooder?
