I'm still trying out bags of feed. Some are pellets, some have actual grain particles in it. I think the chickens prefer the grain (little bits of corn, etc.) Or maybe its my way of thinking. I feed mostly layer. The main ingredients are cracked corn & soybean meal; then they have a bunch of vitamins & minerals in it too. Its 18%, from a mill that mixes their own. It looks like good stuff...... any ideas?

Hi, Carole. I'm not sure what your feed is. Does it look like mixed whole grains? I feed an 11-grain scratch just as a snack that has 13% protein and it's great stuff, very, very little corn (whole). Their main feed is layer pellets with animal protein still in them. I might feed a rooster the 11-grain, but I wouldn't feed the layers that as a main course. 18% sounds like a great protein level, though.

If you can get it, I highly recommend Blue Seal products. If I could get it here in Florida, I would be happy.
